How to become a music producer

Is it your dream to become a music producer? Do you hope to one day be able to make a living working with music? It IS possible to achieve if you just have the right mindset. Of course having talent doesn’t hurt either :)

But before you do anything else take a moment and think about why you want to do this. You have to understand that it is not an easy road to stardom or money. Music people in the music business makes very little money if any, and hardly nobody can make a full time income from it. Bottom line, it is a lot of work for very little money. In fact if you consider it as work and not a joyful way to spend your time, then go find something else. If you want this because you want to be rich and famous go do something else. There are a lot of easier ways to achieve that!

However, if you are still reading this you probably have a soft spot for a music lifestyle and want to follow this path. I did it and many others have done it too. It has been my full-time profession for two decades now. The first 7 years working at a local radio station writing and producing radio jingles. I was on a fixed salary making 4k a month working with something that I loved. Every single day i was feeling lucky and excited to go to work.

One day I was asked to produce this local singer’s demo tape. We did 3 songs at the studio at night and the singers manager pitched the songs to some contacts at one of the biggest independent record labels in the country. Luck had it, she got signed and I was approached to produce the whole record. The upfront fee for producing wasn’t huge but enough to buy most of the gear I needed to start my own project studio. I also borrowed some money for the bank, back in the days where that was possible and a few friends helped out as well. My dream was coming true. Was had started my own music business. Only problem was that the record sort of flopped. It didn’t recoup the advance payment fully but I was already moving on to my next project. The next year i managed to scrape enough projects together to pay the rent and loan payments but i needed a break soon, otherwise my lifetime dream would disappear before it even got started for real. Thankfully a bit of luck came my way shortly thereafter and I got to produce a Danish band’s debut album that went on to become a huge hit. The band was called Aqua and their single Barbie Girl was a worldwide hit. My dream had come true. I was finally able to sleep well at night knowing that I would never had to take on another day job in my life again.

How to Get Cheap Domestic Flights

The recent influx of fearful flyers has caused fewer travelers and thus higher fares. It wasn’t that long ago that domestic flights were easy to find at affordable rates. Now however, even a short jaunt is expensive. This why there are so many people out there who are looking for cheap domestic flights. Read on for more tips and tricks to saving alot of money on airfare. You will learn how to cut down on the price you would normally have to pay for airline tickets.

Try asking about any discounts offered by the airline for your age group. There are usually discounts for senior citizens, children, and students. There are packages available that can allow children under a certain age to fly free. If you have a child who is a college student, they may also qualify for a discounted rate. Don’t be afraid to ask for special deals. After all, the worst that can happen is you’ll be told no. The airline isn’t going to refuse you a plane ticket for asking about discounts. The most direct method to finding a cheap domestic flight is by asking for discounts.

Traveling mid-week is one way to get cheap domestic flights. By staying over rather than flying on a Saturday, you may receive a discount on your flight. They will also usually offer lower rates for flights that happen between Tuesday morning and Thursday evening. The reason for this is that most people find it more convenient to travel during the weekend.

Jobs make it difficult for many people to travel during the week. This makes it harder for the airlines to fill their planes. The goal of the airlines, naturally, is to fill up their planes. The more seats that need to be filled the lower the cost of the tickets.

You can save money by being flexible with the times too. So many people want to take either very early morning flights or very late at night flights. This is because they are trying to make the most of the time available. Getting these flights in the middle of the day is key to saving big. Try being this flexible on both legs of your trip. Be as flexible as you can with layovers too. Those pesky long layovers are no fun but they can save you some money overall.

Finding cheap domestic flights is not difficult. The next time you fly, you can get a good rate, if you do your research. A very simple but often effective way to book a cheap flight is to ask the airline for a better price (this works with hotels as well). Don’t worry -just because the advertised prices are high does not mean that you are forced to pay them!

Take control of your time management

You will find that even time management experts have days that are unproductive, at least by their standards. Time management skills, however, are still well worth developing. There is no doubt that you will accomplish a lot more when you get better at time management. Those who do more in less time also have a greater sense of meaning and accomplishment about their lives. If you apply the time management strategies we’ll be covering in this article, you will soon find yourself getting more productive.

Trying to be perfect can actually make you less productive. Getting adept at time management does not mean becoming perfect. The harder you try to be perfect, the less perfect you are going to be. This is just the way things are. The idea of perfection actually diverts you from the reality of the work you are doing and the schedule you are trying to maintain. You can never get everything done. No one does everything perfectly all the time. Learn to be happy knowing you did the best you could. If you want to get better at time management, you have to learn how to relax and reduce your stress levels. One simple way to make things easier for yourself is to break down large projects into smaller, more manageable ones. Whereas it can be difficult to know where to start with a big job, when it’s been broken down, it no longer seems so hard. It’s often more enjoyable to work this way too, as you can focus on different aspects of the project at different times. The fact is, when you have a very large challenge to complete, you are likely to put it off as long as possible. People put off these large tasks because they don’t feel up to the challenge of facing them. By breaking it down into small pieces it becomes manageable and easier to do.

Write out a schedule for yourself. You do not need to schedule yourself down to the second or even the minute. It is a fact that you need breaks and this means scheduling that time into your day too. Looking at a schedule like this can help you see just when you need to move to the next task and how soon til your next break. Try not to make you list too detailed to avoid over stressing yourself. Making the attempt to schedule every single minute is great. Actually keeping that schedule is almost impossible. Don’t overexert yourself!

Figuring out good time management skills can be hard to do at first. You will begin to see that your hard work is helping you stay focused and on task. You never know you might just be as focused as the person you’ve always admired for having great time management skills. You can’t go wrong with a good set of goal. Don’t go hog wild. There is something to be said for spontaneity, don’t over manage your life leave some time for fun. It is important to remember that your body and your mind both need to relax from time to time!

Time Management Tips That Work!

Everybody has “those days” when you feel unproductive. Everyone will have days where we feel like hamsters on a wheel. Your time management is usually the culprit here. This is not a state you have to be stuck in permanently. We can each reassess our habits and time management skills. You simple need to adjust your behaviors with a bit of hard work. It is important to realize that there are alot of different methods of time management. What works for one person might not work for you, so you’ll have to try a few things before you find the habits that work best. Here are some hints to get you started.

Write out a simple list of goals you set for yourself. Keep a written list closeby if you decide to write this list on the computer in a word document. This way, when you feel your focus start to wander, you can pull out the list and look at it. Daydreaming and other off task distractions can be curbed with this simple list of goals. Physically writing your goals out can feel a bit more permanent than typing them into a computer not to mention they can’t be erased as easily. You can make these goals as big or small as you want. So why not write them down. Don’t be afraid to say no to people. The fact is, if you have trouble saying “no,” you will never be able to manage your time effectively. If people are always calling on you for favors, it’s hard to get your own work done on schedule. If someone asks you to do something, and you can see that it will mean not getting your own work finished, tell them, “sorry, but I just can’t.” You can still help people out when you can. Your own work has to come first, though, and you aren’t obligated to put this on the back burner for others.

You will do well with a written schedule. Don’t schedule yourself down to the minute. You definately have to eat so be sure to schedule in breaks and lunch or dinner. You are more able to keep a schedule that allows you time for a break. You can make the schedule as detailed as you like, but a word of warning: the more detailed your schedule, the more stressed out it will make you. For some scheduling time down to the minute is great. Actually keeping that schedule is almost impossible. Over exerting yourself is not a good idea. There is no reason why you can’t become much better at time management. It does take some effort, however. If you have ingrained habits that have to be changed, you’ll have to be persistent. You have to keep practicing your new skills until they become natural to you. If you do slip up sometimes, just be aware of it and maintain your progress. If you stick with it, you will one day feel like a time management expert, and no one will believe it was ever a problem for you.
